Cees turned 22 years old!
He had been taking some college classes, but hadn't found his groove yet. But now he made the huge decision to join the army! So proud of him! And at the same time I have many mixed emotions about all the things that can go wrong, but I guess that is natural as an army mom.
He is shipping out to basic training on Monday. He will go to Oklahoma for 12 weeks, but gets two weeks off for Christmas, so it will be nice to see him then and hear all his stories.
After he passes Basic Training, he will be in Texas, where he will be trained to become a medic.
Do you know that he actually had to gain like 17 pounds before he even was eligible to join the army? He worked on that for a number of months before he barely made the minimum weight.
Please send good vibes to him in his new adventures!

However one feels about war and peace, the army is a great opportunity to be independent and see the world. Best of luck to him!
Wow!! That is huge. Good for him to have some direction. I know you will be missing him and a bit anxious in the coming months. Hugs to you!! If he needs any help while in Texas just let me know.
Thanks Jen and Jody!
He is in basic training now and seems to really enjoy the experience. He sure is growing up!
