Go Fish

My sister took Kate fishing today, she had a great time.

They caught quite some fish too, one big one,

A few medium ones, and one or two little ones.

They were still out around sunset and the sun on the mountain gave spectacular colors.

Glad she had such a wonderful time. And also glad that *I* didn't have to take her fishing :p

Fun in the Rain

Today was gray and rainy, but Sylvia didn't care.
She played in the sandbox

Walked around in the backyard

Played with water

She had a great time. She showed that rain doesn't have to depress people, it is not always bad to be outside in the rain. I followed her example and did sword katas outside for a while, it felt good, even with the rain.

Later, Sylvia played dress-up as a cat and had fun indoors too.

Lesson of the day: don't let rain prevent you from spending time outside, it still can be lovely.

Quote of the Day

Sylvia 'Can I clean up the laundry, mama?'

I wish all my kids were like that...
I wish this would last till she actually was EFFECTIVE at it ^^

Sunbathing

Our squirrels are now so at home on our deck, that we often catch them sunbathing...

Maybe I should hand out squirrel sized sunglasses.

Geocaching

Today was grey, and rainy and I spent way too much time inside the house. So to compensate for that, I went geocaching after my aikido training. Yes, it was still grey, or actually almost dark. Yes, it was still raining steadily. Yes, there was a good chance that I wouldn't find the cache, since I forgot to bring a flash light. Yes, I was dressed in just shorts and a tshirt, since it is spring after all. Yes, sane people would have gone right home.

I am so happy I went caching anyway. It was nice to be hiking out in the woods all by myself, and when I came upon a field, there were two deer to greet me. They stared at me for a bit, and then ran away. The next field had four more deer, I loved it!

The cache was an easy find, even in the dark, and I enjoyed the very loud sounds of peepers and other frogs. I should go out in the dark by myself more often, it was beautiful.

Talking about frogs, our tiny garden pond is full with frog eggs. Looks like we'll have lots of tadpoles again this year.

The kids have been looking at the eggs and searching for frogs.

Spring is great!

Love is ...

Love is spending time with your friends.

Snuggling with your mom and your best friend.

Playing in the sandbox when the weather is nice.

Running around in the fields.

Filling the sandbox with water and go fishing in it.

Walking hand in hand

May your days be as filled with love as ours are. Happy Love Thursday!

Quote of the Day

Tara, getting up and coming downstairs.
Me 'Hi Tara, did you sleep well?'
Tara, sounding annoyed 'I was woken up unpeacefully because of Kate and Erik screaming about something!'

Heh. The joys of siblings.

King of the World!

'Mama!!!!!!! Take a picture! I am king of the world!'

Playground Fun

Dentist appointments have started again, but at least there is a play ground nearby.

I had my twice yearly cleaning, grateful not to have cavities this time. She did complain about my gums though, maybe I should try flossing some day :p

Erik had a cleaning too, and to my utter surprise he didn't have cavities either! It is not always easy to make him brush every night, and after he eats yet another 'midnight snack'.

Friday it's Kate's turn for the dentist, and soon it will be time for four more kids too. We spend a lot of time at the dentist!

Oh well, at least it finally is SPRING!

Quote of the Day

Erik is complaining about Sylvia, and Kate yells from the other room 'Erik!!! Sylvia is your lesson in life!'

Quote of the Day

Kate, running into the room, yelling and whining and screaming about something Erik did to her. After some calming down, she leaves the room again.

Sylvia, was playing with duplo, didn't say anything when Kate was there. The moment the door closes behind Kate, she says a heartfelt 'What a Whiny-Butt!!!!'

Quote of the Day

Sylvia, getting ready for her 'going to sleep' nursing. I ask her 'Would you like to go pee first?' She politely replies. 'No, I don't need to, but thanks for reminding me!'

Could it be True?

Could it really be spring????

Could these be spring flowers?

By golly, they are!
Sylvia was so happy that she found those. 'I recovered them!'

There was biking fun to be had.

And kids playing on the swing.

There'd better not be another snow storm!

Love is...

Buying a new pink piggy pillow for your daughter at the thrift store, and watching her share it with her brother. They both are pretending to be piggies ^^

May your life be filled with love! Happy Love Thursday!

Wii Tales of Victory

Finally!

After all the Wii Tales of Woe, and countless daily visits to our local game stop (it's a good thing our bus service is free!), it happened.

Tim called me and said the magic words 'Mama! I have a Wii!!!'

He had waited outside of Gamestop till the UPS man came to deliver. Went in to ask for Wii. One clerk said 'No, we don't have them', but another one said 'Yes, we do, we just got them in!'

Happiness all around :D Well, apart from the fights about what to name our Wii...

Quote of the Day

Me, after request #254 of the day to put on some barbie clothes 'If you weren't so cute...'
Sylvia 'Hmmm, then what would happen?'
Soon followed by a 'I know! I would be ugly! And nobody would call me cute. They would call both of us not cute!'

April Showers

April showers.

I always thought they meant RAIN.

Since it is spring, after all.

Spring!

Maybe I should check the dictionary again to see what it means, it does not seem to mean what I thought it meant.

I want to move to some place where there is NO snow!

Oh Joy!

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 8 am Sunday to 6 PM EDT Monday.

Expect a total of 6 to 12 inches of snow. Snow will begin Sunday morning and continuing into Sunday night, possibly mixing with rain at times, especially at lower elevations. The snow will change over to mostly rain Monday... but still be mixed with snow at times across higher terrain. Expect snow accumulations across higher terrain to be a foot or more.

In addition... winds will gust to 35 mph Sunday night and Monday morning. The combination of a heavy wet snow... and gusty winds will cause significant power outages. Some blowing and drifting snow is possible.

Ridiculous! I am DONE with winter already!

Sylvia Snowboarding

Yesterday, Sylvia discovered our snowboard.

She actually managed to make it move!

Although it didn't take long for the snowboard to slide down the driveway by itself, followed by a running sylvia.

She carried it back up, but lost interest soon after and came inside to warm up.

Happy Spring!
